Would you guys recommend I get him out and take him back to the LFS?
i would just leave him and hope he recovers moving him just gonna stress him more + the LFS wont do anything you have had him in ur tank might have to stand on guard and chase the yellow tang off him if still bothering him

Or how about the sump compartment ?
Yeah if his eyes are still moving I would let him be and just try everything like mirror against, pictures of other tangs against the glass or just anything to get the tangs attention off him. Feed more also and if the yellow isn’t messing with him while he is laying there then just give it some time.

if you start messing around with him more likely he is to die if anything put the yellow in the sump

although i would avoid that LFS from now on if the places i order fish from keep there salinity below 1.023 i avoid them

I’ve purchased many fish from that LFS and they’ve been okay with acclimation. He said that is long as temperature and ph are fine, that there shouldn’t be any issues..

I’m sure he does .. he’s also very reasonable and will reduce pricing without me even asking him when I’m at the cash register …

Yeah LFS are all different! Some keep their salinity low or right on point and the ones that keep them low are doing it so none of the fish show a disease like ich or velvet if they were to carry it. It’s how they make money so it is what it is. Also if the salinity was that low you should have acclimated him super slow and for way longer than a hour cause that’s wayyyyy too low and never seen a store have it that low! If you can’t catch the tang then there’s nothing really you can do other than what I suggested and just hope for the best.

I’ve seen other articles where it states not to acclimate that long otherwise the ammonia spike will be more detrimental to their health. As long as the ph and the temperature is good, the fish should be okay. Not sure how truthful that is, but I’ve experienced it and it seems not to affect the fish too much. The majority of the fish keep the salt level low..

when the salinity is that low you acclimate them in a quarantine tank not in a bucket . . .
