Thank you. I've seen pictures of yous as well and it's amazing. Great work. Have you noticed improved color since you removed your skimmer?

What a beautiful tank you have there. Wow

I feel my corals got plumper and brighter but it happened over time so I can’t fully credit skimmer removal. Definitely nothing bad happened

And thank you! I just took pics now. Evening lighting is my favorite time to enjoy the tank

Basically zero maintenance on this tank over the last 2 years it’s all self sustaining filtration and parameters

Pick two contrasting color babies and start with that and you can have something amazing in 6 - 8 months

They don’t compete and I haven’t trimmed back at all. If you look at the shelf in early pics there are frag holes all over it. I left a space empty to allow for growth. If needed I can trim branches off down the line or move to a different hole.

In 1 year the knicks went from 1 head to 4, and the grail went from 1 to 6

I put in one of these fleece rollers. It has significantly reduced the build up in the protein skimmer, in fact I could actually go up to a month now between cleaning of the skimmer. Previously the skimmer would be full at the two week point.

Best way to extend periods between cleaning / emptying of the skimmer is to unplug it. Over a year now and still haven’t had to clean it !

I don't think it was from removing the skimmer, but from the pod larva that was no longer being removed from the system. The coral now had access to live food on a regular basis. The first week when I moved my coral to the system pictured in my other post all my coral lost a significant amout of color. I was thinking what have I done. Since that time the color is returning. They look good but are still dull compared to how they looked in my 710 with a similar system. In that same time the pod population took off. It could be coincidence, but I'm thinking it could be connected. This is my refugium.

Mesh socks are what I use.
All live rock. Only uglies will be on the glass until the coralline takes over.
A diverse cleanup crew will keep the rocks clean.
150lbs and im at day 15.
Have a plan and keep it simple.
