To add to this, I just noticed that while SaltwaterAquariums.com lists them as "Out of Stock" on their website, they in fact have 1 listed on ebay which seems like an effort to clear out their remaining stock? While I'd like to grab this, it makes me a bit hesitant as I've read of some people having the LED lights stop working, and only being able to get them replaced from clearwater themselves.

So this is for direct 120v
It doesn't change the voltage. That's not what that black box is. It's something to do to prevent the light from flickering. It was accidently added by the manufacturers where they should not have installed it. If you remove it then it'll go back to working.

As I have said, bypass that box and it'll work again. Simple as that.

I ran it with the black box using 12v and then removed the box and ran it on 12v and nothing.. i tried flipping the wires and nothing.. it worked with the box but after a few minutes would start flickering

Don’t know what to tell you. This was the instructions given to me by Clearwater. I followed the instructions and they worked again for me.

I am stoked I found this thread. I am currently looking at purchasing an algae scrubber for my system. I am in the process of rebuilding my sump and figured this would be a great time. My system will run 3 tanks. A 210, 125, and an 80 gallon frag tank. I found a local used clear water cw200 which seems to be very fairly priced. I see this can handle up to 400 gallons. I feed 2 cubes to the 125, 1 cube to the 80 and I am currently repairing the 210 after a seam failure on the bottom of the tank but probably 2 cubes in that tank as well. The tank had been running for 15 yrs so it was time for some resealing. My whole system plus sump will be around 450 gallons. I am wondering if the cw-200 will be able to handle the whole system.

To add I’ll also have a reef mat 1200 running along with the reef octopus 200 int skimmer which I am thinking should be able to handle the system with all other filtration.

Any recommendations or experience would be awesome

buy the biggest you can. You can always lower the hours if it pulls too much, but you can't go over 18 hours on. I have the 300 model and just bought 2 more from that ebay guy and I have about 300 gallons. But I feed over 10 cubes a day, plus nori, pellets on autofeeder, masstick and coral food. I have 60 fish so they eat a lot.
