So this is my first reef tank. It's a nano tank of all beginning choices! The tank was first setup (dry rock, live sand and RO salt mix) on April 2nd 2015 around 7pm) so I waited about a month and a half before adding any coral. I had 1 fish who is still in the tank along with 2 other fish! (I didn't want 3 fish, they wanted me.) two striped damsel, golden head goby, and a free bi-color Benny that was hiding inside a rock when I brought it home! So please look at the pictures and let me know what you think of my progress. Cheers, happy reefing!

gsjustin you have some aphasia. You man want to use some Aptasia-x on it or scrape it off. One you get that piece out add a couple of peppermint shrimp, or a filefish, or both. Filefish and peppermint shrimp both eat small aptasia

Yeah I know I got aptasia, luckily it's only one. Instead of going all out and disrupting the balance with more fish and shrimp I'm gonna go with the kalkwasser and needle method to rid it

Well good luck to you. I hope it doesn't spread. I know the feeling of having aptasia

Thanks! The weird part was that I had bought one good piece of live rock and the rest dry rock and the aptasia didn't come up till last month. 2 months went by until it sprouted up! I got some cyano at the peak of my rock too that I'm trying to take out. I need to get rid of a fish or two.

Sounds good. I think my problem was my nitrates and not enough flow.

And it could be your flow... Nov your power head to the spot that has the cyano for a couple of days and see if that helps

Tank looks great. Like the aqua-scape!! A few of those corals are going to "take-over" the LR.

You may have several colt corals growing at different locations (not too bad).

Zinnia everywhere (good if you like waving hands all over, bad if not).

Green Star Polyps everywhere. (this will encrust all your rock). Try to keep it on a separate piece of rock to avoid these guys from taking over.

Those little green/yellow polyps may be the ..... forget the word...colonial maybe, and will also spread like crazy. try to keep them on an "island" to avoid spreading on your entire rock work.

Been there done that, so just a little warning.

Best of luck with that neat setup. ja
