I recently caught our wrasse looking for opportunities to lie down in our nano tank like this. Lately, he’s been swimming a lot with his head up, tail down.

I’m actively monitoring the situation, but looking to identify if this is normal behavior?

utanc issue or constipation.
Is it breathing normal or labored?
Can use a pic or even video under white light intensity
What foods are you feeding it and is it still eating?

Frozen mysis has been it’s primary food and what it was fed at the LFS.

There are also plenty of copepods and (as of now) hydroids for him to munch on.

I’ll try to get a video with the whites on. First time I caught him it was heavy breathing, second time was calm.

Edit:

Including some videos

The mysis only may be producing heavy mucus in the stomach lining and causing constipation
Add TDO pellets, brine shrimp and LRS nano frenzy to the diet

Side question, there’s definitely something white sticking out of his underside. Is this poop or something else?

I could only get one of the videos to work. In it, the wrasse is breathing fast, and there is a large white bolus of feces hanging out. That can be a sign of some internal infection. These can be difficult/impossible to treat. If it is a virus, coccidia or microsporidians have no effective treatment other than supportive case.

Is the wrasse still eating? Do you have some frozen brine shrimp you could try, just as a laxative?

I’ve been trying to target feed him live brine — he’s been completely uninterested.

He’s plopped himself at the bottom of the tank but isn’t taking up food.

Sorry - that’s not a good sign, but there just isn’t a treatable disease symptom here.
