Hi Everyone

I have been a long time watcher of R2R. However, I have done little to no posting. Hoping to be a more active member with a time line of a new build that I started a few montgs ago. I will keep the thread updated as I make changes. Be patient this will be a very slow build. Looking forward to any pointers I can get from the group. Please excuse the mess in the pictures. My wife and I are switching rooms for this build and I am having a tough time getting her to vacate my new reef room(any tips in this area would be helpful also :)). Here's the build specs.

The tank is a custom 6'x27"x24"tall Planet aqarium. Front pane is starfire. PA also made the stand as well.

Sump:48" trigger tideline

SRO 5000 Skimmer

Apex controller with DOS doser

Ecotech pump

Mp60 and Mp40

Radion gen 4 pro lights(x3) yet to be ordered.

BRS dual reactor.

Here are some pics of tank stand, 40 gallon quarantine system(currently cycling) and my old tank that I will be cherry picking from. Looking g forward to lots of help from the group.

I have been very busy working on the tank. Got a water station up and going, frags starting to go into cycled quarantine tank and best of all tank is plumbed. Had a few minor hicups with the plumbing. Mainly cutting pipe to right size prior to gluing. Rock should arrive next week. From there I will start the aqua-scape then lights and adding water. Feel free to comment if you see anything of concern.

That shelving unit came from Lowe's or home depot(don't remember) brand is Husky. Rated for 2,000 per shelf. I have another in the garage that I got from Costco. The one from Costco appears to be built a little stronger.

What's the height of your stand? I have my Planet 180g rimless build coming in weeks, and my stand, sump, and layout are similar dimension as yours. Also plan on mounting my Apex board in that 24 inch span too.

Did you just use plywood for the control panel?

36" stand

Yes, painted plywood. Mounted on tabs that PA welded to stand to mount the skin of the stand.

The tabs have holes in them that a screw or bolt can be screwed into. I'm not sure how you would mount to outside if steel. Unless you drilled it. But then I'm not a handy person. The tabs made it really nice for the back. I used 3 pieces of plywood in the center of each 24" area. If I need to remove a panel I just have to unscrew 4 bolts. Honestly, I have yet to skin the stand. Really don't mind it being open.

Great looking build. The sump and control area is very neat, nice!
