How do you prevent them from sliding under the load? **when used in a vertical application **

There is no sliding or load on them. They are holding the vertical bar in place.

So the pressure from the two vertical 80/20 bars and the single plate being secured with the nuts and bolts, acts like a pressure sandwich and holds it all snug? Cool, I wouldn’t have thought that would hold, I would have suspected that the 80/20 would slide but that’s neat. Thanks!

Yes the 2 pieces of 8020 are held on each side by the plates and bolts.
3-4 plates and bolts and the 8020 becomes part of the stand.

This is how I would like the lights to be hung with 2 vertical supports but open to ideas (picture from @siggy ):

Option A - Mount the light fixture on the wall instead and have it motorized. The issue I have with this is I'm not sure what is behind the wall. It feels and sounds like it is concrete but hollow too. I also don't know what size anchors and bolts to use. With this option, I would prefer to mount it on the stand instead of the wall. (picture from @Fishinbob)

Option B - Use 80/20 and a pair of motorized desk legs (picture from @Perfectly_Imperfekt1 ). @Perfectly_Imperfekt1 was kind enough to explain how he built this. If I go with this, I would like the legs not to be as close to the tank, so I was thinking of using 80/20 to make a bigger space in between and to support the legs some how.

So my ideal way is to use 80/20, have it mounted on the stand with 2 vertical columns (either desk legs or 80/20), and have it motorized.
