Hey fellow reefer in ct! I enjoyed reading your thread so far! can't wait to keep reading, you have a beautiful setup,

Thanks. The thread may slow down while I cycle the tank, but will pick back up once I begin stocking.

Last night I checked my phosphates. They were at .66ppm. I ran GFO onvernight and they dropped to .12ppm.

Ammonia is at .5ppm
Nitrites 2+ ppm
Nitrates 5 to 10 ppm

No need to add gfo let ur tank cycle and build a bacteria base. Once ammonia is gone then add live stock and build it slowly once your water changes stop keeping your phos down then run gfo

Why do I not need to worry about the phosphates yet? I was under impression that high phophates will lead to algea blooms... like the diatoms i'm seeing. Can you tell me why i don't need to worry about it yet? Thanks.

You want your bacteria to grow that eats the waste in ur tank so by using gfo you might be stunting your cycle causing it to take longer

Make sure you get a healthy clean up crew in there if you havent done so already, it will help clean up the diatoms that you have in the tank. Also, if you dont have a tang or some other kind of algae eating herbivore then you dont need to offer dried seaweed in the tank.

Awesome build!
I'm sure your sick of hearing it, or it just sounds redundant, but that stand is gorgeous!
Look forward to seeing this one fill in and grow!

It seems that my cucumber is a climber. He climbed up to the ledge on the right side of the tank. Didn't know they could do that. The Brittle Star likes to hide under the rocks and the banded shrims stays hidden most of the time.
