Well after my recent loss of Armageddons, I figured "oh well." For 2 days (today being the second), my nice big healthy acan colony hasnt puffed up very much. Dont really know whats the problem. Last night they were opened more than during the daytime. I took pics, which Im about to upload.
I tested the water, seeing that some cyano is coming back. Heres the numbers:
Ammo/Trite = 0
pH = 8.3
Nitrate = 10-15
Calcium = 450
Alkalinity = 2-2.3 meq/L
PO4 = <0.1
The things outta whack are the nitrate and alk. I added half the recommended dose of Kent's superbuffer to the tank a few minutes ago, very very slowly to the back chambers to be mixed up well. That should take care of that.
I have the convenience of having my main LFS being 2 mins away from school, so Im going to stop by tomorrow, get water, and do 2 5 gal water changes by the end of the week, and keep it up through next week.
Could the alk could be causing the acans to be cranky?
