Hey all - I have had this anemone for almost 6 months maybe longer. It has always looked amazing never any issues. Today at like noon it started just like shriveling up and looking weird, I thought it maybe ate or something. Anyways, I just looked at it and it has a huge hole in the middle. I am hoping it is splitting but have never seen that before so to me it just like he is ripping himself in half and dying so thought I'd see if anyone had any insight. I attached a couple pics of what I am seeing and what he usually looks like. Water params are what they always are;

Nitrate - 10ppm
Phosphate - .03
Alk - 8.01
Mag -1302
Calcium -466
Temp 77.9
PH - 8.1
Salinity 1.025

These are have been pretty stable for the past 6 months or so as I started using my apex and trident to dose. Can't think of anything that would have changed at all. He has a nice little anemone crab that he hosts and has for months. Clowns take no interest. Not sure what other would be helpful. If he is dying what should my approach be?

Sorry and thank you.

Looks fine. One pic I see his oral disk opened but others I don’t so don’t think he’s splitting.

The bottom 2 pics are how he normally looks. All of a sudden today it looks like the top 2. That gap is like inches long and he is super stringy. I can see right through it to the rock work.

Ah, OK. Diff story. Then he prob is splitting. He looks healthy so let him do his thing.
ok, I will be patient. Not sure why I got in to a hobby where my worst character flaw in constantly tested.:) I have never had one split before so seeing it happening in real life is different then seeing pics online.

Here are some pics from when my nem split to hopefully reassure you. It’s wild to watch, but I understand your concerns cause it looks ridiculous.

Be careful... These things can be tricky. FWIW I was at my LFS and this guy came in with some RBTA. (trade) Now one of those DT tanks is littered with RBTA. GL.

Be careful because they can split like crazy and over take a tank? That’s good to know. Thank you.

Looks like its prepping for a split.
They generally go around a rock or stretch as in your pictures.
Here is splitting occuring in pics:
