There can be so many things. Please give us your water parameters, and zoe's history.

agreed. how long have you had it? it most likely has something to with water quality, but also a hermit crab could of crawled on it as well and made it unhappy

Only Jesus Knows the trouble with this Zoa.

Maybe move it onto a rock and see if something in the sand is bothering it.
That was funny.

Tank 30 gallon 6/7 months old
PH 7.9
Nitrates 6.8
Phosphates .4

As a side note I checked the water coming out of my DD RODI system as it was showing as 15ppt is that bad? Could that perhaps cause issues?

No, 15ppt is not that bad. You want as close to 0 as you can, but 15 is not detrimental.

I don't know why they do this but always assumed it's a bad thing. Sometimes they recover. I've seen entire colonies to this at once and actually all shed their heads. Like the top just rots off, and the stalk grows a new head.

I made 3 10l canisters of RODI water from the system. I also had one canister I had purchased at the lfs. They all show 1.000SG and 0.0PPT but PPM is all over the place. Sometimes it shows 2 then 400. Iv tested all 4 several times

I’m having trouble with my zoas looking the same and not sure what’s going on.

How are your nutrients compared to previous values?
I moved them from a Fluval evo into my main dt with similar values probably slightly worse in all

.4ppm phosphates is too high IMM.
I’d lower that slowly to say 0.05-.15ppm
I have phosguard which I put in them which rinigally brought it down from 2/3 plus to under .15 but recently added more livestock which is probably the cause for the recent spike.
