Yes... breeding!!!! I love it..(fish x fish of course)

I wanted to get a general idea of who is breeding what?

I was hoping to get a database going here. If you want to post up, please list:

-Species of fish you breed
-Pairs of fish you have/How long you have had them paired
-Tank Specs/Equipment
-Link to tank if possible

Thanks!

I have a pair of clowns but they have not laid eggs yet just spent a lot of time courting and it appears they picked out a spot to make a nest.

I am very interested in getting royal grammas to mate and I am researching this now.

2 pairs

I have a pair of clarks clowns
and now I have 3 royal grammas 1 big male and 2 females that follow him around.

hopefully one of the two groups will start breeding.
I think the clowns have already laid eggs once because they were cave guarding and did not come out except to eat for about 4 days. then all of sudden back to normal.

Hi there,

I have the following breeding pairs:

A. ocellaris-regular*
A. ocellaris-Darwin black*
A. percula*
A. percula-Picasso variant
H. erectus-Lined seahorse
P. kauderni-Banggai cardinalfish
P. fridmani-Orchid dottyback*

*= raised to sellable size
Picasso and Banggai offspring will be ready to sell soon.

We have created the Marine Breeder's Initiative over at the MASM.org site. You can take a look at the MBI Dashboard to see what others are breeding: MBI Dashboard

We are working out a system to integrate the MBI program with other sites. This way you can fill out your own breeding journals on your site and they will go into the MBI database where everyone can view them.

I'm not the webmaster so I don't know all the technical stuff. If anyone is interested though we would be happy to set things up. :)

wow some serious breeders here. I don't know how you all do it - I barely can keep up with the job, house, wife, kids.,

Anyways - breeding a. percula
1 pair and have had them for a little over a year now.
120 gallon mixed reef, 40g custom sump. Not sure what equip you want - but basically my pair reside in my display.

Catching the little fry is fun at night...(i'm joking).

since i was successful raising at least 30 past meta - my goal is for the next batch to try and get over a hundred. my wife is gonna kill me...lol Anyways - i am living proof that you don't have to be an expert in getting these lil' guys to grow-out. I'd hardly consider myself an expert in reefkeeping let alone breeding fish. More like trial and error!

here's an older pic of the female after laying eggs on the back wall:

Sweet guys! I'm going to do some mated pseudochromis in my new system, possible have 3 pairs divided upon 3 systems. Going to probably do some practice with some springeri or orchid, finish up the dream by attempting to breed a new species.

It's all in the air at this point, but it will happen :)

A little off topic, but quick question for your guys. I know this doesn't realy apply to the various clown species, but for the others are you buying them as breeding pairs, or as juveniles? Over the last 30+ years I've hade great success with several difficult FW species, but have yet to attempt anything with SW. Must admit, the thought intriges me.

I just picked up a pair of Ocellaris that are mated and have been laying eggs in their previous home. After they settle in and I see a batch of eggs I'm going to give it a shot.

Maroon Clownfish (Premnas biaculeatus)
One pair that's been spawning since 2007.
Spawning takes place in my 65 gal. reef tank. I use a larvae snagger to raise them.
Larvae tanks are 4 gal. cubes. Growout tanks are 10 gal. standard.

The Orchid Dottybacks in the 37 just laid eggs last night. I was unsure of who laid the eggs until the Flameback Angel got close and the dottybacks went savage!
