To add a little more surface agitation I have an air pump with a piece of rigid tubing on the end of the hose shoved in behind the rocks in our pony tank. I would like to add an airstone but my wife "read somewhere" that the small bubbles can cause issues with seahorses. Has anyone heard of this? We had an airstone before and one of the ponies actually liked to hang out in the bubbles so my wife had me disconnect it after she "read something"

Most seahorse keepers run an open airline without an airstone. I thought the reason was bigger bubbles created more surface agitation. I know it used to be thought that micro bubbles could cause gas bubble disease but most seahorse keepers do not believe that anymore.

PS Ponies do seem to enjoy having bubbles of any size massaging them.

Thank you

I am going to build a Bubble Curtain that I hope will give them some bubbles to play in that are larger.

It will also increase gas exchange by creating surface agitation which is a good idea in a seahorse tank, although I hate the salt creep it causes.
