Hey all,

My tank is really starting to grow diatoms, at least i think that’s what they are. Besides Turing my light off I am thinking of getting a cleaning crew but I have no real clue where to start. I’ve seen packages online but I’m unsure what can even be mixed together, water params, what would go well with my pair of clowns.

Any advice on what to purchase/how many?

The only thing I’ve heard of is don’t mix snails with some crabs.

Right now I only see diatoms, but not much else in terms of algae. Should I start small with a few hermits from my LFS instead until more builds up?

I recommend building your own CUC AT REEF CLEANERS. Get some nassarius snails, some cerith snails, some blue legged hermit crabs, and get a jar or copepods.

Why I said the smallest package they have. As mentioned above creating your own might be the best option.
