Hello,

If your talking about the current usa model 4117 version they are more powerful than g4 radions. They will absolutely bleach and produce more par. I have those on my 240, that’s 34 Inches tall and I average between 150 and 200 par on the sand bed. The 60 degree lens is extremely powerful and extremely unwise to underestimate.

The newer orbit Ic can grow any thing softies and lps. It can grow sps (probably in a 40) but I’d question them in a 90 or higher for sps. If they did place sps in them, it must be the upper section of the tank.

If the op is running the 60 degree versions I think for a 40 is model number 4110 I think. I would run the white at 20-30% and blues at 100%. I would also make sure alk is at 8 constantly. Cal is at 440 constantly, and being the salinity up to 1.025. I would make sure phosphates are very low also, but do not bottom them out or your nitrates, then worse problems happen. Another issue could be flow or too much flow and the coral can’t handle it. Since they are on the sandbed and sand isn’t getting blasted around I wouldn’t think there is too much. But a pic of the tank and light and I could definitely answer more for you.

Sincerely
Sarah
They are the 4117 modle i tested tonoght with a api test kit and it read 0 nitrate 0 phosphate but i also started to feed again today and i also added 2 fish from my other tank that i tore down today

Hello,

So lol on my own thread I would double check your api. Mine also said 0 nitrate and 0 phosphate and I kinda was confused because I was having a cyano break out. When I tested next to another api kit my nitrates were 15-20, and Red Sea was 20 plus a tad more. I would double check it with a lfs test and see to make sure.

I sent a message on the models the 4117 were currents super powerful version which is what I have and are 72 inch long. If you have two of these on a 40 lol that’s extreme overkill length wise and power. The two on my 240 which is 72 long 24 deep and 34 tall, has still proven to be too much and it’s a mixed reef and mid to upper is all sps. I have a Maximus clam 24 inches down and he gets just blasted.

Here is what the 4117 looks like and can still find them a few places.

To every one following this post. Yo conclude my lights were way to high in light they are now running at 60 blue 25 white 5 green 5 red I have new corals and they are all opening up beautifully I also think what was happening is that my tank was going through another cycle the only coral that had made it through the bleaching is my Duncan but he is on recovery he even grew a new head. Here are my new corals and the Duncan. As you can see they are all fat and happy. I waited about 3 month before adding new ones. Phosphate just peaked up so I put new gfo in yesterday.

Tank parameters

Salinity 1.023 refractomiter
Temperature 78.8 current USA temp probe
Alkalinity 9.9 salifert
Calcium 490 salifert
Magnesium 1200 salifert

You need to raise your nitrate up to 2-5 ppm. Your phosphate at 0.1 ppm is on the higher end, but nothing to worry about. You currently have a nitrate and phosphate imbalance. If you get them balanced, you won't need any GFO.
