Definitely keep the +out and -out isolated to each driver. The input and dim through all drivers and PSUs will need shared common/ground, but not the outputs.

Hello everyone, i made this DIY lamp with the Aliexpress bulbs and some extra UV and MINT from SteveLeds.

First of all i want to said that it was possible thanks to @oreo5457 which helped me to figure out the LDD y should buy for each channel, a lot of thanks to him.

I will upload soon photos i didn't have any right know. Just want to let you know that in my personal experience the royal blue that the Aliexprees bulbs have are trash. I buy some zoas and they just enlarge the neck so much in order to get light (because of lack of royal blue)

I just put only on the zoas an old lamp i had with good blue leds and the zoas neck just retract.

Beyond that the color i get on the aquarium its pretty cool

what connectors are people using? I want my wires to be tidy with quick and easy disconnect/reconnect. Would din connectors be best? Or does anyone have a better idea?

Does anybody have experience with applying a lens or lenses to their led pucks? I have my fixture all setup but I think it could benefit from putting a lens on.

I was hoping for one singular lens but it's hard to find one that fits. It looks like it needs an inner diameter of roughly 75mm and an outer diamet of less than 85 mm

Those look good, I have added them to my cart but I'll hold out for single lenses if I can because I have 6 pucks at this point meaning I'd need to add remove my fixture and glue 126 little lenses. Lots of room for error as well.

100 mm would clear the leds, but it would not fit between the wire ports

Good evening everyone. I hope everyone is doing well and safe in these odd times. I need some opinions on some 5 channel chips I've found from kiwilighting. I intend on using these chips with a custom layout as color augmentation for my new 180 cube build (48x40x22). 6 T5s will do the heavy lifting.

I intend on making channel 4 mirror channel 2 and changing channel 3 5k XTE Neutual White to something more warm as well changing the XPE blue on the same channel to XTE royal blue. I know this is a loaded question without knowing more t5 bulb colors, but does anyone see any issues with my design?

Also lastly with my lighting layout being as described below, how many of the chips will I need to cover a 40" span using 44mm 120 degree lens?

With that many t5 I think you'll have no issues with light and the leds will give you that contrallability you're looking for.

With that said. The cost of these leds make t5 obsolete IMO.
You can easily get more of these pucks for cheaper than the t5s, have brighter lighting with more contrallability and less energy consumption while getting equivalent coverage. Oh, and you wouldn't need to replace the leds next year like t5

Oh I agree with you about the cost, controllability and efficiency of leds. It's unreal how far they have come. I just believe that t5 and leds compliment each other very well. IMO one fills the gaps of the others weaknesses...and I already have the t5s from my current setup that I'll transfer over to my new build lol.

I'm just struggling with spectrum selection and how many per row. I feel like 2 pucks may not be enough for a 40" span but 3 maybe overkill as supplemental lighting.

It's better to go with slight overkill because you can always turn the leds down.. But if you don't have enough there's not much you can do besides add more.

My tank is 48x40x22 and I'm running 2 rows of 3 pucks each. Also running 12x3w rb and 6x3w mint. Running a total of 7 channels on each row.

With 6 t5 in between each led row.

The coverage, customizable color and par are unreal!

My pucks are from kiwilighting. I had them change several channels for me.
Chan1 5xrb 1500ma (80%)
Chan2 3xnw, 2xww 1000ma (50%)
Chan3 5xuv-violet (395-430nm) 600ma (90%)
Chan4 2xcyan, 2xnw, 1 430nm 600ma (60%)
Chan5 5x 480 blue 1000ma (70%)
Chan6 12x3w rb 1000ma (80%)
Chan7 6x mint 700ma (60%)
