However I did make a needle wheel impeller for my dct 12,000. Using Acrylic sheet and string trimmer .095 tringular line.

It goes a little something like this.

Nice needle wheel. How did you attach the trimmer string to the disk glue or is it pressed in?

Nice needle wheel. How did you attach the trimmer string to the disk glue or is it pressed in?
I pressed the pieces of trimmer line into the drilled holes so they were flush with the backside. Then I glued the entire back of the disk with super glue.

I'll explain this all in the video tomorrow.

Let me introduce you to I am BRUTE.
20180131_125228.jpg

This is a venture into a place where the norm is not normal. Join me on this venture to make a skimmer out of a 32 gallon brute trash can. We will utilize the needle will pump that I designed in the last video and make a working skimmer out of this bad boy.

OK so a little update on where I'm at with this skim monster.
I have the pump elevated in the BRUTE to reduce bubbles getting out the drain and also to reduce the water pressure on the pump for performance reasons. If I had a larger pump I would place it farther down and direct the output up more. Right now it's about midway.

Now I made the cover or top with the original lid. I just cut it down to fit inside. It goes in upside down the way I'm using it. I cut a 3 inch pipe OD hole and a hole for the air intake pipe.

Now I assembled it together and in just moments I had skimmate.

A little refinement but as you can see a skimmer can be made out of anything and yes @Reef-junky You can make one in a tote.

Of course I'm going to make a video and talk about this build.

So what numbers on plastic would be safe to use for a container?

What size PVC fitting that you use for the collection cup do you think I would need?

I don’t think a bucket would fit but if it does I have some old salt buckets with lids. I’ll have to look.

4x2 reducer, 2inch pipe, 3 inch pipe, 4inch pipe, 4 inch test cap,

You can buy the pipe in 2 foot pieces at depot.

I'l show you how to put it together.

So would the 2” PVC be for the neck?
