I'm like don_chuwish, but I use the half-gallon ESV bottles due to space limitations. Drill the caps, insert a length of rigid airline tubing to reach the bottom of the bottle, and connect the pump tubing to the rigid tubing. Done.

I use canning jars. They are very inexpensive. Cut a piece of plastic the same size as the typical lid that goes on the jar. Silicone that to the ring so you get a tight seal. Cut a hole in the lid for two pieces of airline tubing. One should be about 3 inches, this will be used to start your siphon. The other goes from about an inch off the bottom of the inside( don’t want to grab any sediment) of the jar to hold below the level of the jar on the outside. (Think just how your aquarium siphon works) put a irrigation style adjustable dripper on the outside end of the siphon.
Put whatever you want to dose in the jar close your lid tight. Blow on the short piece of tubing, watch the water go out the other tubing and your siphon is started.

A quick gravity feed dosing jar with stuff you probably have laying around the house.

You can but many would see it as a possible source of trouble or a possible point of failure. When I was running a 29 gallon bio cube and dosing kalk I used an older container and attached a IV line to it. This way I could auto top off the water and add kalk at the same time. It seemed to work ok and didn't clog up much al though I do not recall my dose being strong. I've seen some do similar but without the IV line and run to a pair of float valves, etc.

You can, and people do, just need to be aware of any possible faults in the system and design safety in before attempting.

Any suggestions for cheap Dosing containers? I saw someone suggest using voss glass water bottles to hold there calcium and alkalinity solutions. Could you potentially use plastic water bottle? Is there any risk using a cheap water bottle?

Did someone mention cheap

wow that's really nice! I love the sleek look of the voss water bottles but I'm worried they would simply get bumped around and fall over under my stand. I'd like to buy 2 of these stand.. where did you get these from?
