6 months into the hobby

60 gallon Water box with all systems $3,000
Rock $500
Corals $ 5,200 every live sale is min of 300
Fishes $ 800 a tang of $169
water, amazon.. I think I reach 10K easily even more . I dont regret every cent spent or my card maxed out .. Previously , That money was a shopping spree at the mall including a "bcs I work" Tiffany piece of Jewerly
I've got to see what 5k in coral in a 60g looks like. Can we get a FTS? I bet that thing is awesome looking.

I'm going to regret doing this...

Reefer 350, $1300.
RSK-300, $329
Heaters, $100
Tunze Refugium light, $87.
Reef Octopus Varios-2, $270.
Neptune Apex-EL, $499
Neptune Trident, $600
Neptune WAV, $175 x 2 ($350)
Maxspect Gyre Xf230, $250
EcoTech Radion XR15 G4-Pro x 2, $420/ea ($840/total)
EcoTech Radion XR15 G5-Pro, $420/ea
Aquatic Life Hybrid T5HO, 48", $334
T5 bulbs, $100
Clearview Mesh Lid, $200
~ $350 rock/sand/filtration media

Total for the tank: About $5800. I got a pretty good deal on the tank... replacing it at regular retail would add another $700.

As for the livestock... probably $350 in fish. About $200 in clean-up crew. Probably about $2,000 worth of coral.

So probably about $8500 total for everything CURRENTLY in the tank.

And for the sake of my own sanity I'm not going to worry about replaced equipment, failed experiments, and all the many, many corals, fish and snails that have not made it over the years.

It doesn't matter to me what I've spent. I enjoy it, and that's what counts. Also, my wife knows what it costs, and she doesn't care. She spends her money on what she wants, and I do the same. We have a healthy relationship. ;)
Hear hear!
same with my wife. As long as the bills are being paid and savings goals are being met she can buy all the 1000$ lamps and stuff that she wants haha!

I have no freaking idea how much I’ve spent over the 20 years I’ve been in the hobby but a ballpark figure for the current tank would be around 12k or something.

Honestly, if more couples were like you and your wife, the divorce rate would probably be so much lower. =P Other than acting as the voice of reason sometimes (is spending $600 on a single fish really a smart idea?), mine has never made an issue about what I spend on the hobby. She gets the same consideration from me... she has a huge backlog of PC games, and we just spent $1,000 on a nice new Steelcase chair for her. The bills are paid, we have more than enough money saved away, so if either of us wants to get something, they get no grief for the price tag. So long as it's not a $30,000 peppermint angelfish, anyhow. :)

Looks awesome are those AI primes?
The Lights ? They are Aquanest M8's. Have a downloadable app, also controlled at light pad on light. App will give you a bar graph, and curve graph. Allows you to set intensity through 8 periods through the day, and separates the six colors on the graph

Ok guys. I have been married over 35 years. She just threw something in my face from 32 years ago. So be cautious. I knew of a guy who was dealing with a shop with points system. His wife walked in and asked how many points he had. Calculated how much he spent, and added it to the divorce demands lol

I guesstimate I have spent over $400 on my 29g tank, but I’m not even close to getting done with it... I plan to purchase may more frags (once I have the funds) and a $100 black box light.

Please check out my build thread for more information!:D
Never mind, my new grand total is $600+. ;Hilarious ;Hilarious ;Happy ;Shy
