Thanks. It's been up for about two months. So I'm just keeping my fingers crossed at the moment that I'm doing everything right. I do feel like the water isn't turning over enough with the stock pump. Maybe I'll do the same as you.
Just be sure your coral can handle it. My flow is strong some lps might have some issues , but I try to stay away from the ones that polyps extend I have mostly Sps. And a select few lps and zoas. My sexy shrimp don't swim around as much they walk now. My war painted clown goby has no problem. It also helps with detritus, hardly any accumulates.just keep up with your weekly maintenance and water changes is key. And daily ro top off if needed. And dip every coral you pUT in your tank. Try to take it off the plug if you can. I got red wire alge from not scrubbing the plug.

Being in nursing school I had to use whatever was lying around after shutting down my big tanks when I moved. But tgis scratches my reef itch while in school. I built all this on my own. it's a 6 gallon fluval edge I took the top off and drilled. Stand is wood that i embedded magnets into. Light hanger is conduit. Sump is acrylic i threw together. skimmer is sca. Vortech mp10wes, and AI vega for light. my new zoa pack arrives this Thursday. Hope it all works out! if it all ends up working for me once my zoa grow out I plan to build a matching stand and put a nano frag tank on it so I can store frags to trade :) 20161031_202353.jpg 20161031_202519.jpg
