A lot of contradictions in this subject. Look at Lazylivin's sensational colour at 9.5 DKH (3.5meq/l) and then reconcile that with the commonly made claim that you need low alkalinity for colour and high for growth. I run at 3.6 meq/l (about 10 DKH) but my tank is too new to prove anything.

I've not seen many claim, nor any evidence for, lower alk leading to faster growth.

lower nutrients can lead to better color if zoox levels are kept down (they are golden brown), but low nutrients can lead to burnt tips if alkalinity is too high.

Bump.

I'm using 120ml of both (Randy's recipe 1), I did every 4 hours 20ml 6 times daily which is 1.7 dkh in a 90 gal w 29 sump. I have about 40 frags mostly SPS a few are mini colonies and LPS. My coralline growth is incredible and I don't see any precipitation at all. I was using fully saturated kalk dosed via a simple float in return chamber that dripped actual demand in conjunction with 2 part, but in the winter months my evaporation rate wasn't enough and I couldn't keep ALK steady.

What product are you using? They vary in potency.
