I'm going away for about a week. I dose manually. Is it okay to add extra to hold over my tanks while I am away?

As an example, I typically keep my Calcium at 440. I'm thinking dose to get it up to 480 and then by the time I'm back, it will still be above 400.

Or would a better strategy be to let things deplete and then get the numbers back up when I return?

Yes, I have a 4 head dosing pump that I have yet to deploy. But I'm still learning dosing and don't want to use the dosing pump until I have a good understanding.

It is an LPS dominant tank.

I do have two SPS Frags in the tank that were added approximately one month ago.

Realistically how much alk will be consumed. Calc shouldn’t be an issue. As long as everything doesn’t go below natural sea water levels. I personally wouldn’t over do it for one week of absence
