This summer when I move I am planning to run the new tank fishless and with corals inverts and old rock while I treat fish in my current tank. Which will become a qt. With a tank as big as I'm planning on I feel like not qt is a big risk. And why not add a little area where I can put a qt when delighting the house.
In some ways I agree with you - if you look at data from this site, only 50% or so quarantine - and who knows what percent use a correct protocol. That said - the fact that there are multiple posts/day - probably means that more QT not less would be helpful

30 gal I only have a small 3 gallon that’s the problem
You're not going to be able to keep that blue tang for very long at all.
It will be stressed the whole time.
I've got the same blue tang(same size too) in a 75 and I won't be able to keep it very long.
Only reason I have it is bc of the impending upgrade.

That's for the best...
If you want a tang I belive you can get some small bristletooth tangs? Maybe. But I think any tang it would eventually outgrow a tank that small. Just in diffrent time spans.
There is still some good alternatives to a tang.

Looks like mucus cones mixed in with ich and not uncommon with hepatus tangs and separate treatment tank with coppersafe at 2.25-2.5 copper level should correct this. Do this for no less than 30 days and add aeration during treatment with air stone

Dumb question here! Do Bristleworms eat the ick “daughters” in the substrate?
Thanks, Debra

No- ich is a cyst and single cell that fall in substrate to reproduce and seek host fish once again for life cycle increase
