Just plain ol algae. It started to go away soon after and has almost been completely replaced by purple coralline.

Sounds like standard old green and purple coraline algae. Nothing to worry about if that's the case. Can you post a pic?Hello guys,
The past week or so started to get some green spots on the back and side glass I have a small pinkish purple spot on the frag rack it’s black ABS plastic can some one help please . Thank you
I know this is an old post but this is coralline. Coralline starts off green and then once it solidifies, it turns pink. You should be proud! Hope you still have this tank and it’s filled with so much pink lolI have a new 4 month old tank that was set up with dry rock and sand. I've slowly been dealing with what you all refer to as the "tank uglies" while the tank matures and establishes itself.
It's been slowly declining now where the brown algae on the sand and rock completely disappear / subside when the lights go off but slowly reappear once the lights have been on for an hour.
The question I have is whether this is still part of the tank uglies or something else. Parameters are normal (ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate ~5, phosphate ~.001, salinity is kept high at 1.025). Tank lights are somewhat of a mystery to me. Japan made LEDs that I have not been able to find any information on. There are around 70 LED lights on the Fixture (20 blue, 50 white). Is this too much white light? I can only turn the white and blue lights on or off. I can not control the intensity.
The other question I have is whether all this green algae is indeed green coralline algae. I've been told that if it doesn't brush off, it's coralline. Just trying to verify this once more before it progresses.
The green growth on the rocks of my 9month old tank has purple intermingled. The green seems to have a fuzzy appearance in spots. I think this is coralline but not sure if the fuzziness is normal. Can anyone confirm if the green growth is coralline? Thx.Sounds like standard old green and purple coraline algae. Nothing to worry about if that's the case. Can you post a pic?
Thank youJust green film. No harm. Coralline will spread right over it
Thank you.Yeah, there's a reason you don't often hear about green coralline algae despite the one poster's insistence that it's common and even appears first. Glad your coralline has gotten going btw!
