Okay got u some new pictures first one is what once used to be a full head second one is what fell off, or broke off. Do you think i should just chop the head off completely, or wait see what happens and if there’s any signs of BJD then chop it off.I'll be awake, that's only 6pm here
You can use drug store /grocery store iodine - it's actually povidone-iodide.
Add a few drops to a container of saltwater (preferably tank water since it will be the correct temp) until it's the color of strong tea, then dip/bathe for up to 30 minutes.
First picture with the red circle is what the remaining head looks like. So, part of the head actually broke off? What does the remaining part look like?
I meant the damaged part...First picture with the red circle is what the remaining head looks like.
No worries. Thank you for helping me .I meant the damaged part...
I didn't realize before that the polyp was actually split off.
Regardless, I can't guess whether or not it will survive; use your best judgement and either frag or wait and see.
Sorry I can't give any more specific suggestions.
Do u think i should i cut this head off or it can recover? First picture with red circle is main the main head. Second picture is a part of the main head that got chipped off.In my experience with BJD it transferred to the other heads on the colony and took out those too. Now when I see it I act quickly and cut the bad heads off and throw them away. I've never had luck with iodine dips in saving heads that were badly infected.
I agree with @EeyoreIsMySpiritAnimal to keep it in low flow and see if it recovers but if there's any suspicion that it's infected its not worth the risk of spreading it to the other coral. Someone mentioned the smell of BJD - it's very distinguishable from a healthy coral.Do u think i should i cut this head off or it can recover? First picture with red circle is main the main head.
