Hi,
For balling these components are used together with cacl.
This would come out as calcium bicarbonate ...a not important
Now the other part would be nacl witch is the reason for adding nacl free salt and one thing leads to another a small amount of salinity and yesyes old story.

Now would it be ok to skip this cacl stuff and only use the magnesium and sodium bicarbonate? Would I still get the magnesium and alkalinity. Calcium is as of now dosed from kalkwasser. Not enough alkalinity so I need to adjust some. I need to dose mg either way.
Would this put anything askew other than to much nacl?
And curiosity killed the cat, what would it look like?
MgCl and NaHco3 (and h20?) > NaCl and what

use the diy two part.

in that process you dose calcium chloride and baking soda when alk drops down. then after some time you does magnesium

Keeps everything in balance according to the needs of the tank.

Balling is a european form of the amercian dr randy holmes farley's diy two part.

Same basic idea.
