Had a 55 gallon about 27-28 years ago. FOWLR. First 2 photos. Had my 2nd tank up about 3 years. It was a 75 gallon with sump. Did pretty well and looked pretty good. Took it down about a year ago. Tankless for about a year. Decided to do start another tank caused I missed it and my buddies always talking about their tanks.
3rd photo is of 2nd tank. Man what a difference.
3rd tank is going to be a 75 gallon with sump. This will be my build thread for this tank. I will start to post photos and equipment list. Have everything together and getting ready to water test.

Wow that pic comparison. Reefing has come a long way.
It has. I had a stars and stripes puffer that would follow the krill can around and eat out of my hand. Just a biowheel filter and under gravel filter. Had it up for about 5 years.

I am taking a walk down memory lane. In the mid 1990s I got my first tank and it looked so similar. The fake coral, internal power heads, no protein skimmer, crappy lights. I had no idea what I was doing and quite frankly I don't think the fish store did either. My poor yellow tang turned red on me from the ammonia.

My puffer was way too large for my tank. Also had a panther grouper that got pretty big. Had it full of fish. Yellow tang and hippo tang as well.

About every 3-6 months I would pull out the coral and bleach it clean rinse and put back in. Never hurt anything.

Finally got the sand, rocks, and water in tank. Still a little cloudy. Running a filter sock. Going to buy some live rock today or tomorrow to put in the sump and start the cycle.

Just about to the sit and wait period. Liking how it coming together so far.
