Hey all

It's been a strange journey with my old tank having an algae outburst that caused its downfall, having my goby go limp when he was moved to a new and bigger tank, and having had a decent leak from the seals of said tank (that have thankfully been stopped). Now I have something I wish to confirm the identity of.

My local store is torn on what these are, which worries me about them, but that's another issue for later. They've slowly grown over the last few weeks and I'm curious if I need to remove them or let them be. If you know, lease let me know lol

Thanks everyone!

Those are pineapple sponges (genus Sycon) - harmless filter feeders. They're really common in newer tanks, and their population typically booms then busts, with them going away on their own with the bust.

Thanks for the quick reply and help everyone!

Always love to see new species pop up and learn about them, even if they don't last.

Really appreciate the help!
