The Vortex are nice but ungodly expensive and noisy.
I use a Reefkeeper Lite controller and two Koralia Evolutions 1400 powerheads. Totally silent, 2800 GPH movement and at only 6 watts apiece. Plus the new Evos are much smaller than the older K series Koralias and designed specifically for wavemakers and timers.
Yes I have my RKL programmed to control my calcium reactor.
The RKL is limited to 4 total add on modules, the Elite goes up to 63 I believe. the RKL has a two line display so can only display limited information at one time. The Elite has a larger graphical display so can show icons and other things too. The RKL has one wave maker function for two pumps, the Elite has two for a total of 4 pumps. I am sure there are other differences too but the Lite serves me well for now. If I decide to upgrade in the future its worth a $50 credit towards the Elite.
www.digitalaquatics.com has all the specifications and differences listed.
