I know it is odd to post planted tank projects on a reef forum lol, but have really enjoyed this community. I just recently switched over to freshwater planted from reef tanks this past Friday as I no longer am able to keep with the even the simple weekly maintenance required due to things happening. My main tank which is a 5g planted tank has had a rocky start with algae and almost complete die off, has now been doing great.

As you can see this tank is becoming successful. My new build I just setup Saturday/ Sunday. I had many aggravated moments with the 2.5g from not anchoring the wood properly and floating, to not being able to find the right placement. this took me almost 2 days to setup with everything else I had to do. But was finally successful. will still need a bit of tweaking. download.png

Once I know the cycle is complete or if there is one, I will add a few shrimp and a few fish. looking at dwarf pencil fish that dont grow over an inch and maybe small oto suckerfish depending on how shrimp do.

Look at possibly, once cycled, putting in 3 dwarf pencil fish or mosquito rasbora, and either cherry shrimp or amano. Unless there are some better HARDY shrimp or fish suggestions. IMG20220921133810.jpg IMG20220921133850.jpg IMG20220921170426.jpg

Looking good! Those stem plants are going to grow like crazy.....you ready for constant pruning lol?
Yes, i have similar in a bowl. It isnt to bad.. the worst i had was red root floaters lol. Hard part will be making sure there is space between plants and glass for fish to swim through. I was thinking of one of our betas but like your stating, with the possible density would be a bit much.

As long as its just ones a month or simple clip like my other its fine. If I notice im having to trim more then i might replace with a different kind.

2 females in the 2.5g have settled in over the past few months and are getting along well. Plants had to be trimmed for.firat time in both tanks and looking to add a snail or fish to help clean rocks in the 5gallon.

So quite a bit of changes and over haul. Do to health and time, i ended up shutting down the 5 gallon. While it was doing great, i was unable to keep up and maintain. The 2.7g is doing good.vill have pictures of this later on. I will be converting thread name over to 3 gallon bowl. I have my main one and another on my desk for fun.

The main one consists of cardinal plants, Buce and Tiger lily. Live stock currently is 2 ramshorn, about 8 blue neo shrimp and a beta. I will be adding 3 galaxy danios.

Yesterday was the first trim i have done but will show pictures of progress

Last 4 shows the trim as the cardinal was cut down due to the way it was growing. Cant wait for it to grow back and show more purple leaves.
