Hey, I picked up this flame back angel from my lfs yesterday. It already went through a 14 day qt and was treated with copper. Is this a bacterial infection and how could I treat it? He’s unfortunately in the dt and there’s no way to get him out. Is it just from the stress from the move?

Looks like Mycobacterium bacteria. these appear as Skin lesions, emaciation,, scale loss, frayed fins and loss of appetite are all signs of this infection. This bacteria are transmitted bi infection, detritus, and feces of the infected fish. They can also create skin wounds and lesions.
The best treatment is prevention and good water quality. Try not to feed raw food to your saltwater fish. Treatment with Antibiotics include kanamyacin, or erythromycin. begin with a good water change.
What is your salinity and tank temperature as well as ammonia and nitrate readings?

The fish has only been in the tank for 24 hours so it was probably the lfs if anything. I also have a uv sterilizer on the tank.

See how it looks in morning. If stable- good, if worse- Kanamyacin or similar right away

If it’s stable should I still do a wc? I have a bunch of rodi on hand if needed. I also have some nls TheraA pellets which are supposed to be medicated to help fish’s immune system I could feed him. I don’t know if he will take them but I could try..

Try to feed those first. If it doesnt eat it, youre doing water change anyway, then go ahead with WC

So here’s a picture from this morning. The patches aren’t as white but look slightly larger. They’re almost like rings now. My royal gramma and clownfish chowed down the pellets. The angel might’ve eaten one or two.

Start treatment and with use of Quarantine tank if you have one.
Melafix may even help. Continue with water change and assure it is eating. Garlic extract added to food will help.

Some frozen that is good are:
LRS herbivore diet
Formula 2 flake and frozen
mysis shrimp

So I should start with antibiotics? I don’t think I will be able to catch him...

Could I mix the kanaplex with the food mixture and be safe? I have a carbon reactor on the tank and a big skimmer to take it right out after feeding...
