Here are some photos! I fought hard for the placement in the kitchen, where we spend most of our time.

I insulated the refugium as it gets quite cold in Wisconsin and this is in the garage. The garage is insulated and heated, if needed, but the heater remains off for the most part. It usually doesn’t drop below the 40 in the garage, even on the coldest nights. I have two heaters (I think a 150 and 200W).

Love the tank placement. Mine is between my kitchen and dining room and couldn't be happy.

I have two tanks both with Current lights and power heads. For my smaller tank I have just one strip of the IC LED and I have softies and LPS, for my larger tank I have the IC LED Pro and also 4 T5 lights. I have a range of softies, LPS, and SPS. If you want to be SPS tank I would upgrade, if you want a mix you could just add some supplemental lighting on.

For test kits I would vote Salifert test kits. I have such a hard time reading the color, but these are much better. I also like digital. I have hanna ULR Phosphate and Alk and then Salifert for Mag, Calcium, and Nirtrates. Also make sure you have a good refractometer. If your starting with the wrong Salinity it will throw everything else off

Magnesium has been on my mind lately, thoughts on seachem reef fusion 1 and 2?
If you are really going to go all out, then I would suggest adopting the Balling method of dosing. I use Aquaforest Component 1-2-3 and have good results. Your corals will explode!

Welcome! I’m new as well and having a great time learning here. Get ready to go down a deep deep rabbit hole lol! There are some awesome threads regarding rip cleans on that sand bed. I’d get ahead of it now and take care of business. Should take a few hours so plan accordingly! If you can’t find it let me know and I can forward it over. Everything I’ve studied in here points to one direction, get the problem in control before it becomes a bigger one. Good luck!

Here is my RO system:

So I’m thinking I could get the BRS dual deionization canisters with TDS meters and just branch it off from the drinking water? Does that seem like a reasonable plan?

For the aqua forest, that looks like it has everything I would need to dose? Do you also need to dose things individually if they are out of wack (I.e. if my copper is normal and calcium is low, would I just dose more of component 1 or would I need to dose calcium individually?)

I’ll look for the sand bed cleaner threads!

It appears that this is the system here:

Specs:

If that is correct this system is rated at 14 gallons per day. Honestly I wouldn't try to upkeep a reef tank with a system that can only do a max of 14 gpd. I would look into a BRS rodi system or one from Air Water Ice.

Best of luck with whatever you decide!
