Question for a 220 gallon; how many wave makers should I have in the tank and what size wattage.
I want to do a reef tank along with fish (probably not the right terms) lol

Hi there,
It all depends on what kind of layout you going to have and the type of corals.
Good flow is always a + but sometimes you can have too much flow.
Maxspect Gyre XF150 is a good pump that doesn't break the bank, but you got a dozen other pumps on the market.
This was a good question to ask as you'll get plenty of awesome replies on this.
Just browse a few sponsors on here for what they have to offer and also read through a few build threads.
You still have a long way to go and best advise I can give is take your time.

Did you measure out the space for your skimmer and return pump?
What about filter socks, are planning on to use these or you skip that?

Ugh, not a fan of JeNo pumps.
How will you tackle the cycling of your tank?
Remember to wash and cure that dry LR before using it in your tank ;)

Yes it's all measured out. Before and after the refugium was built. Yes I have filter socks and the inputs for it.
Thank you!!

I use the 40's and love them. I figure the volume of water they push, cheap as they may be is worth the short term investment to make sure I like the wave idea. And my corals are loving it and it's only been a week!!! Crazy how your corals will tell you when they are happy.

Welcome and good luck in your adventure!!! There is tons of great information on this thing and some awesome reef Junkies that have been doing this for decades. Listen to them @Diesel is one. Great mind (well what's left of it) and phenomenal knowledge. His tanks is awesome!!

Don't forget the thread build and read, read, read.

Hollar if you need anything!!!
