My experience from last winter was my heater could not keep up. I ended up replacing the heater with a heater that my apex controls, no over heating. I also run LED's so I do not need a chiller.

What exact heater did you go with. I'm gonna run an Apex too.

Finnex titanium heating tube link. Great heater, no glass and I have the 300w in a good flow area in the sump. We have not run the heat in the house in two years and this year, no problem.

Most people in hotter states would put a chiller on this just for stability. Also the cobalt heaters are good but I have heard of them blowing up, however I use them. Just a thought

Back when I was researching heaters, it was only 200w neotherms from a specific year (2014 I'm pretty sure).

Not sure yet. I have heard my LFS guy talk about "chillers"

I live in Ft Myers FL and in the winter even though it gets up to 85 with the windows open my tank stays at 78.9. The summer is a different story, but I never don't use AC if it's over 85, so no chiller needed. My biggest issue is the loss of power for extended periods during storms. No generators allowed in condo. I have 5 battery powered air bubblers, two tank fans, and an APC UPS for my sicce voyagers (10w). I did a test run and they last about 20 hours on the battery. Keep us posted!!
