And he adds it to the other tanks with coral in the store as well.
I'm basing this off the video. There still isn't any evidence, only anecdotal eveidence that yeast removes diatoms. Aside from that, after my initial diatom bloom, i never had diatoms after. Or at least my snails took care of them. So it's still hard to say why he would add it to an established system or why? Someone needs to break out the microscope and prove it. Until then i'm not convinced. I apologize if thats not acceptable.

We have added it into established reef aquariums with corals many times.
I'm not arguing that it isn't reef safe. My fish love it. It's like birthday cake for them. Other than that, until proven, it's snake oil. My tank hit 7 months old yesterday and I still have diatoms. I tried your yeast method for 2 weeks, without resolve. Just got my first batch of GFO in the mail, today. That will be my round two of trying to get rid of diatoms. GFO has been proven to absorb silicates. Proven.

And just to add, I love your business. I think you keep a wonder variety of coral and fish. I've ordered from you before and the quality is top notch. But, please respect what I am saying. It needs to be proven for some of us.

Thanks for the good comments. I understand different hobbyists have different threasholds when it comes to trying something new. I'm simply trying to share what I have learned with fellow hobbyists. I've had so many compliments from customers who have seen a dramatic improvement and seen such a dramatic improvement in my own tanks that I felt compelled to share.

Since you're here and on the subject, can I ask why you are using the yeast on your already established tanks? This thread was mainly for diatoms? Was there another purpose you are using it for?

Even established tanks can experience diatom blooms sometimes. There was no other purpose for adding yeast except to combat diatoms.

People can have diatoms in a tank at any given time.
This tank is almost 6 years old and I am growing diatom algae for a request of study.

So I just got into a diatom bloom. So here is the deal, I will try and take pictures every day and post them. I added the same brand/type of yeast and here are the pictures before it was added.

This is good. I would however prefer a different control of at least ALL dry manufactured rock. I know i can't get everything. But some of our tanks are bombed with silicates. Especially tanks that have

1. brand new tank
2. new sand
3. new pumps, wave pumps, skimmers
3. manufactured dry rock
4. misc. peripherals(heaters, thermometers)

My old tank is a used 20 gallon(from freshwater) with a used heater but with new sand and pre cycled live rock. The diatoms only lasted maybe 7 days without intervention.

You're running GFO? GFO will absorb silicates.
