So, I really want a Deltec now and I'm kinda over my Nyos (too many issues starting up after water changes/feeding, etc..). Anyone make the switch from Nyos to a Deltec? I have a heavy bio-load 90g, so I was thinking the 600i, but not ruling out the 1000i.

I’m running the 1000 the AC model. My system is 100 gal heavy bio load. I switched from the Nyos 160 and it was a good move for me! I purchased mine from Adam at Battle Corals.

Nice! Yeah, I'm thinking I'll need the 1000i because of my heavy feeding. I love heavy throughput, heavy in, heavy out.

I would suggest you look at the Tunze 9410 dc.
I run one in my 120 and 1 in my 45 frag.
Easiest cup to clean.
Never have to turn it off to clean, feed, or work in tank.
Has anti oveflow.
I empty and clean the cup twice a week.
Every 6 months remove and do a complete clean.
Put it back in, turn it on, no adjustment needed.
I have not had to adjust anything on this skimmer since setup 15 months ago.
They are not the fanciest out their but they are very underrated skimmers.
Best water level is 6.5".

The Nyos is a great skimmer,I had the same problem.I got an early model and it would not start up after shutting off.Spoke to a rep at Macna and he said it had to do with the required voltage to get it up and running.Replaced the pump about a year ago and problem is solved.

It's funny that you mention that. I talked to their tech support and mentioned that was my observation and they told me to keep the intake clean and that the pump shouldn't be turned on/off constantly. I even have my return pump slow down during feedings so it doesn't turn off, but sometimes the water level goes above slightly and my float valve shuts it off so it doesn't overflow. I clean mine every six months with citric acid, so the skimmer is well maintained. Replacing the pump on a three year skimmer is kind of a joke, but that's just me.
