My understanding is that the tank needs to be level, or else it is vulnerable to failure. I'm lucky that my floor is level and the tank is level, but I think if it's not you need to level the stand to make sure the tank is level. Some people use shims. If the water tilts even a little it can put too much pressure on one part of the tank.

I'm referring to building it. You don't have to build a stand on a level surface. Take a perfect level stand and put it on an unlevel surface. If it's level then it will match the unlevel surface.

The stand should always be altered or maintained as level when it is permanently stationed before water is added.

@kschweer Cedar is very rot resistant as well. This pic on this post is the only bad area and it's been that way for alot of years now. damp most of the time too. A reason to build a tank stand and hood with Cedar. And Yes I love the smell of fresh cut cedar. Remember 20+ years of service and still going.

Thanks Paul, Dovetails are not as difficult as one may think. just takes practice. All the inlay is solid wood no veneers on this box.

Dovetails are easy for me! I have a jig that is used with my router. I can't remember the last time I hand cut dovetails.....maybe 30 years ago. However, I had a friend who became a master something-or-other by passing his test in making a hand cut dovetailed four sided pyrimid. He was a phenominal woodworker...someone I looked up to.

Yup,
and NICE!
is that a Bubble Blaster on that baby?

Yes it is the 10,000 model (700-800gph and 4000liters of air draw) . Be blasting for 5 months now. I could put 50 fish in my 500gal system , and still have filtration for a few more. LOL It is really nice to see an 18'' fluff brown foam column, before it spills into the cup
