So I will make this as short as possible. I need some help with a Sol- Hal in QT
He has been in QT for over a month now. Unfortunately I got a couple other fish the I had to add to the QT tank. Now my solhal tang doesn’t look so good. I have been treating him copper. I was adding more to get the levels back up. They are currently in a 75 gallon tank. I’m about do a tank transfer. Unfortunately it is only a 50 gallon. There has been no fighting with each other.
After adding an another’s chocolate tang and rabbit fish.
Made the swap. Fish are swimming around. No flashing.
Now they have some discoloration. Should I start with PraziPro?

Please describe more completely what your QT process has entailed thus far....which med, what concentration, how long, any symptoms pre-QT, etc.

Also, photos and video will be helpful.

It sounds like you added infected fish to the current QT.

I do a 90 day QT. I currently have a pair of Saddlebacks in there. They are in QT 66 days.

If I added another fish today, that would reset the clock on ALL fish, including the one that has been in QT for a month.

Hanna copper test kit.
Breathing looks normal
Low saturated oxygen may be an issue- add air stone
Ammonia level may have climbed and thrown off by false readings
Possible flukes which will be unseen
Recommend;’ change water, treat with coppersafe for 30 days followed by prazi pro treatment
If flukes, loss of appetite, increased breathing, lethargic behavior and gasping mid water or at surface

How long and at what concentration have you maintained the copper treatment?

Since you started down that path, it would be ashamed if you didn't complete it. If the flashing is obvious, you could run praziquantel simultaneously. What other fish are in the QT? I assume the DT is clean, or is it also infected? If not clean, you will need to take a more aggressive process as suggested.

The flashing and blotchy skin does seem like it could be flukes.

The new fish were a rescue. And didn’t want to put them in the DT. I was almost done with the copper treatment. With the solhal. So starting over.

I will be starting copper again, or Prazi first?
I'd wait for a fishmedic to chime in to be sure, but if flukes is most likely what you're dealing with at the moment, and the sick fish has already been in copper for an extended period - my guess is that Prazi wouldn't be a bad choice. In urgent scenarios Coppersafe and Prazi can be used together if you don't have an overly sensitive species in QT.
