Set up a qt about week and a half ago.

10g
Used hot magnum that's been filled with bio max and on dt for the life of the dt (since February). Moved it over to qt, used half dt water and half new. Added biowheel to hot mag for bio filtration help.

Using a amonia indicator it is showing light green "alert- .05". But it's been like that for about a week with no change. Been adding frozen brine shrimp to cycle.

Thinking doing a water change and see if amonia goes down to zero - then I should be good right? I think the bio max is keeping amonia down with enough nitrifying bacteria.

Or should I wait a couple more weeks to see if I get a spike?

Looking to add a fish soon and want to qt correctly.

Ammonia should be down to 0 before you add any fish. Water changes unless near 100% are not going to do to much if the ammonia is still being created. I don't think you need to ghost feed anymore. Just wait for the cycle to end. Did you ever get a Nitrite and Nitrate reading?
