I noticed some of the mini colony shots out there, the rainbow is not totally through the piece. They are all one solid color with a rim and then a bit of color on one piece. I wonder how they will all grow out.

I have seen 2 Rainbow colonies (8-13 eyes) for sale within the last month and I noticed that there was a small portion with red/orange, but 90% Of the chalice like a grape watermelon.

I sure would like for more reefers with these rainbow chalices to post their mother colonies.

This is a very good topic. IME it all depends on the original frag that you start with. As in if the frag you start with is predominantly blue/green/purple with little red I'd bet that it ends up being mostly those colors grown out.

Awesome BIGSHOW! Growing this under T5's? I wonder if different types of lighting or spectrum encourage different colors to be more dominant.

I finally received my CB Flaming Bugatti this afternoon and am happy to join the rainbow chalice group.

It's still a small frag and I can't wait to see the colors once it grows out to a large 2" frag disc.

This picture was taken under a Kessil a350. I turned the blue leds off, but the white led still has a hint of blue in it.

Below are various picture views of the individual frag.

Very nice! I've been eyeballing these rainbows for a few months now, and I may have to make the splurge soon before the anticipation kills me.

What would happen if you didn't like the watermelon parts and cut them off at the red/orange border, and hope it spreads more reds/oranges? Anyone try?
Will that work? Is that how to 'make' a full rainbow chalice? Just like culling fish.

Just wanted to revive this thread. One of my favorites. Does anyone have any update shots?
