It goes from white to brown after 1 use. The water is coming out @ 0 tds but I just don't know why it looks like that after one one use

Normal. replace the sediment after six months, or when the psi drops 10%. whichever comes first. a drop is psi can be caused by other things as well.

Thats pretty bad for just one use. Any idea what your TDS is going in. A prefilter might be in order to keep everything from getting clogged.

After 1 use and it looks like that then something is weird in your water. Mine took months to get there.....However I make 10 gallons a week most only though

That happens occasionally where I live when the city does a water flushing event. If yours always looks like that after one use you've got some seriously dirty incoming water that may need more investigation. You're drinking and bathing in that

Ok thanks. It's just my ocd says to change it when it looks like that

If it bothers you, you can do a test. turn it on and note the psi. then remove the filter and turn it on again. is the psi different?

Remember that a sediment filter doesn't clog with Dissolved solids - it clogs with TSS - suspended solids. So with some exceptions, the TDS is not critical here.

If your sediment filter is dirty - it is doing exactly what you asked of it - catch undissolved solids before they get to the carbon block.

Is this well water by chance?
