Hahahahaha, yeah you could definitely do that. Every evening, I plop my butt down on the couch and watch. But yeah, you could probably skip the trident. I’m not able to test the tank every day so I bought it.

If you have the real-estate...... go long and deep (not tall).

Make your life a lot easier

My dream tank is one that has 4 viewable sides
That's the plan I have a free to me 125 gallon with a busted bottom pane that I am building into my wall, so I am going with a plywood custom base just because I can drill and I already needed a stand.

I have 6 MP40’s on my 145....... 4 won’t touch a 400 in my opinion. 4-6 MP60’s maybe
Jesus! That’s a lot of flow. My lfs’s 350 has 2 mp60’s and it gets a lot of flow.

Wavemakers are easy to add after the fact though. Most new tanks don’t need crazy turnovers out of the box. Figure out what you want to grow. For a sps dominant, the 10 mp60’s will help. But if the tank has fleshy lps, they will hate life. Mixed reef, I would start with 2 60’s and go from there.

It may be just because I don’t trust my own abilities...... but 125’s are cheap enough that I wouldn’t take any chances putting a refurb-job in my wall

Yup I have heard of the ply wood build issues but for me I think the customizability is right up my alley. Plus this is a great to save some money for some much better equipment.

I don’t know if I’d run that risk. The wife wouldn’t like 125 gallons of salt water and fish on the floor...
