'Lo all. I have a stocking question. I would like to know if I can add anymore fish. I like the idea of a handful of Anthias.

I have a mixed reef 120g - 48x24x24 with various corals.

Livestock includes:
1 Hippo Tang
1 Powder Brown Tang
1 Melenarus Wrass
1 Foxface Rabbitfish
2 x Percula Clowns with their RBTA
1 x Diamond Goby with his Pistol Shrimp
4 x Green Chromis
1 x Blood Cleaner Shrimp
x amount of snails and hermits

You can put a more in there in my opinion. Make sure you account for how big the fish will get when its an adult though. I would put more small to medium fish (adult size) in there. Tangs will definitely out grow that tank.

I know the Hippo will eventually. Bought him when he was the size of a quarter in my previous 60g cube (I know - tang police). I think the Powder Brown should be ok but we'll see - that one is the king of the tank.

Was thinking 5 Dispar Anthias - too much?

Thanks for the reply!

I dont think so but make sure you research and understand what you are getting yourself into. Anthias in my opinion are hard to keep and need fed multipal times a day.

Your powder brown may not tolerate anything else -- they like 6 feet or more of swimming room and he's likely to be even more territorial in only two feet.

I think that's a pretty well stocked tank but some smaller low bio load fish might be ok (probably no angels, butterflies, or tangs).

5 dispar is a good plan. Usually anthias are ignored by their tankmates and dispars are quite peaceful among themselves.

Soooooooo

On Sunday, I bought 4 Dispars from a very reputable LFS. Acclimated by floating, then dripping.

Put them in my DT (I know - rolling the dice).

They all stayed in the top back corner. I figured ok, let them settle in.
Come Monday morning I see 3 in the same corner. Still, a wait and see attitude.
This morning I see 2 in the same corner but find the skull of one on the sand bed.

Ugh....$ 60 ....

they're all gone..disappeared. I suspect they weakened by not eating and the CUC did their job. This is one thing I hate about this hobby.
