Is there a good conversion factor between the two? I have read that ESV is more potent so I would dose less but before I buy it I want to get my calcs correct.

Currently I am dosing about 50ml / day of BRS alk and 40ml / day of BRS Cal.

Thanks,

If you know your consumption rate the calculators work well. I remember reading in the chemistry forum that brs is weaker and I believe it takes 1.4 x the amount of brs to equal ESV. So 1ml ESV for each 1.4 ml of brs being dosed. I'm going from memory tho which isn't always reliable so hopefully someone will chime in or you can probably find the info here.

I seem to also remember there are two recipe #1 and #2 I think #1 is the most popular and is the 1.4x and I believe recipe #2 is 1.6x the amount of esv. But again going from memory so confirmation is recomended :winking-face:

@Randy Holmes-Farley Is the PH boost on the ESV the same or am i going to get less with ESV

Same per unit of alk added.

If you want a higher pH boost, use a sodium hydroxide diy.

If you want a lower boost, use ESV Bicarbonate Bionic or a baking soda diy.

ESV is also supposed to have other trace elements...

Yes and no. It is a mistake to think those elements offset any consumption. They do not and are not intended to do so.

Additionally, I recommend Tropic Marin Balling Part C with my diy (Or BRS) instead of my part 3.

That makes the diy nearly identical to ESV..
