Hello all,

@Bulk Reef Supply always adds, to an extreme sometimes, every extra part you might need. What do you do with all these parts?! If you are like me they go into a random fish stuff drawer in my "Fish room" (reality the guest bathroom). What do you do with it?

I have a mandarin that is doing well, but I wanted to make sure that he was getting all the food he needs. I decided to look into a brine shrimp hatchery. $120....$70...what!! No way I was going to get any of the reactors on the market with those prices, so I went to the random drawer to build my own.

Enjoy!

Part List:

* 2-Liter Soda/Pop container
* Empty BRS Bulk 2 Part container - 1 gallon
* MUR-LOK GARDEN HOSE/UTILITY SINK ADAPTER - http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/mur-lok-garden-hose-utility-sink-adapter.html - $6.99 - Comes with BRS RODI systems
* MUR-LOK RO ELBOW UNION PUSH CONNECT - $2.99
* MUR-LOK RO INLINE BALL VALVE PUSH CONNECT - http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/mur-lok-ro-inline-ball-valve-push-connect.html - $6.49 - came with something I purchased =)
* 1/4" CLEAR ACRYLIC TUBE -16" LONG - http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/1-4-clear-acrylic-tube-16-long.html - $2.49
* Air pump

Step 1: Using a knife put a small hole into one of the "feet" of the 2-Liter bottle, then insert the clear acrylic tubing.

Step 3: Attach MOR Lock elbow to the top of the acrylic tubing. Then add airline tubing to the other side

Step 5: Attach the garden hose adapter to the 2-Liter bottle. Make sure this is on very tight with a water test before you move forward. Then attach air tubing.

Step 6: The BRS 2 Part container acts as a stand for the reactor. Make a small hole in the BRS 2 Part 1 Gallon container for the airline tubing, and then install the 2-Liter

Nice build. I want a mandrin so bad. I will wait for a tank upgrade though.

Also my fish room is the guest bathroom too! Affectionately referred to as the "fish bathroom" by my wife and son.

How do you feed the brine shrimp to your mandarin? Mine is very shy and hides if I even approach the glass much less stick a baster in the tank...

Great build idea. Is it just me or is that the best Mandarin anyone has ever seen! I can see why you are going to great lengths and efforts to make him happy.
