Definitely the gracalaria hayi, which I got from you guys at Reefalpaooloza in Jersey 2 years ago! I used to have a fox face that decided to devour the halymenia maculata, it was a nice suddle contrast while it lasted, lol.

Halimeda is one that looked very nice on the floor, between the sand and rock, but has not done well for my tank for some reason...

I know Halimeda needs high calcium and alkalinity. I'm giving it a shot. I hope it works out.

Yes! Macros are awesome! Here’s some pictures of my sunlit refugium. Algae grows so much faster than coral it’s a constantly changing underwater garden. Perfect place for all those cool little invertebrates that would get lost in a larger aquarium. And many times I have to turn off my skimmer it’s so efficient at lowering nutrients.

Good lord this tank is amazing! Especially with that natural white tone you see less in modern reef tanks. That would cheer me up any day

unreal! are those mangroves just in the overflow not in a sandbed? do you trim roots at all or do they interfere with the overflow?

Some things you guys might find interesting:

Here's an incredible macroalgae/seagrass setup I found on Google a few months ago (and sadly, I cannot locate the image's source):

And here's a locally collected, massive Chainbladder kelp (Stephanocystis osmundacea) specimen in my tropical planted marine tank; I am not sure if I can maintain it for long, since it is a coldwater macroalgae, though it does not appear too particularly weakened, 15 days after introduction:
