I want to get a new skimmer because my Red Sea skimmer is not working well and it is so big. I can not but up the glass barrier to make a refugium because the skimmer is to big. I have a Red Sea 350 g2. Do you know if the reef octopus will work well for 90 gallons? And do you know if it will fit in the back part of the Red Sea 359 g2 with the glass barrier up?

It depends on the bio-load of your tank. Although some may say that the 150SSS is too big, I have run that model on a 75g reef with good results. I originally have the Reef Octopus 130 on that tank which is probably a better size but I much prefer the design of either the SSS or the INT over the 130. I'm not sure about how well the 150SSS will fit into your sump.

Ok maybe I will go with the 130 sss. It sounds like you liked the 130sss. So you used the 130sss in the Red Sea 35 and it worked well.

I think I meant the 110sss. Do you know how that runs?

I have multiple 110INTs, but not a 110SSS. I assume that the 110SSS would be comparable to the 150SSS. There may be better skimmers, but it is hard to go wrong with a Reef Octopus skimmer.

I know that the 110sss would fit and it is a good skimmer just did some research. You said you have the Reef Octopus Essence S-130. Is it about the same size as the 110sss?

I would check the specs. They are comparable but I am not sure about the exact sizes. The skimmer cup on the INT and SSS just pop off, where as the 130 has a twist lock so the skimmer cup has to be rotated before it will come off. It is not a big deal and some prefer the twist style, but to me it is a minor annoyance. I also found the 130 a bit more of a challenge to dial in.
