Using equipment on DT and Quarantine tank....

I am using large bucket, syphon hose and gravel / sand vacuum on both tanks.
The gear is getting a good wash with the hose after each use....

Is this ok?

I read the comments about vinegar and drying equipment... but is this over kill..
It just doe snot seem possible that ICH could survive a fresh water hose then being left outside for a day or 2.

Bad idea.... ich is pretty darn tough at times... cross contamination is very real and it only takes one theront.

So why make your QT null if you use the same gear???? Just seems like a waste of time and a half measure

It's all about "biosecurity". Here is a general article about that topic:

I'm not sure how/why vinegar got promoted as a sterilizing agent for aquariums - it isn't very effective unless dosed very high. then, calcium based substrate tends to negate its effects.

Marine ich tomonts can be killed by freshwater and by drying, but I worry about Neobenedenia fluke eggs - those are really tough.

Public aquariums use true sterilizing agents - quaternary ammonium compounds or bleach (sodium hypochlorite).

If you are flushing out with water right away- youve done well already. Generally vinegar is used for pumps and other equipment. For hose and bucket would be when you have buildup or mold in the hose, then vinegar or bleach would apply. For QT tank, bleach followed by cold water rinse which neutralizes bleach
