Ahoy Reefers!!!

After a separation and living with a friend for years I've finally settled down, bought a house and had a baby. With new stability and a kick butt new partner in life it's finally time to put up a new reef! This time it's my dream build!

A Waterbox Aquariums Infinitia 275. https://waterboxaquariums.ca/products/infinia-275-6

I'm spoiling myself and I'm totally spoiled.... One of my best friends on this planet owns a pet store and since we've always helped each other he's graciously given me access to his dealer pricing on everything!!! basically not charging me any mark-up.

That being said, I still have some good gear left over from my previous tank that I will incorporate into this build to try and save a few pennies.

Tank, stand, sump and plumbing have been ordered.

New equipment on order:

Vectra M2 return pump
3x Radion gen 5 blues (sale price is just too good to go for the Gen 6's)
2x MP60 wave pumps

Existing equipment:

2x AI Hydra 52 HD
AI hydra 26 HD
Reef Octopus Classic 200 int skimmer
2x MP40 wave pumps
Coral Box Wifi Doser
Tunze Osmolator

Things left to buy:

Aquarium controller (Hydra or APEX.... the debate continues)

I'm going to run Red Sea blue bucket salt with Kalkwasser dosing until I need more demand, then to 2 part and finally transition to calcium reactor when the demand for 2 part and calcium gets annoying to make refills.

Plan is 5% weekly water changes or daily 1% water changes depending on the controller I get and how easily I can access my drain and reservoir.

Sand bottom for cool wrasses and other fun inverts and probably an SPS heavy mixed reef - typical zoas and softies on the bottom and sand bed and a bunch of fuzzy sticks from mid to top.

With the risk of running a super long post I don't care.

I've done step 1. Earlier in January I made 4 large rock structures and smashed them into Rubbermaid totes with saltwater, some bottled bacteria and a tiny bit of fish food.

Here are a couple pics:

I got some vids of the first three structures I've built too. Will add later.

Any questions ask away!

Here is my previous build thread so you peeps know what kind of tomfoolery and failure stories to expect on this one

Oh and my buddy who owns the fish store quarantines fish with copper safe at 2.0 mg/L

That means I'm going with observational QT for everything.

This is the concept for the aqua scape…. Who knows I might add more piles or arches or whatever but I think it’s cool so far.

I originally planned it for a 24” wide tank and the WB tank is 29” wide so I might need some front to back adjustment to add depth.

Yeah so that last update sucked lol. Tried to post a vid direct but that didn’t work then went down a rabbit hole trying to make a YouTube channel. Anyways…..

I painted the wall where the tank is gonna go and installed two GFI outlets (one is on the other side of the wall in the basement). Colour is Indigo Denim, selected by my amazing GF.

and here is some rocks in flimsy totes held together with ratchet straps and bungee chords.

Annnnnnnnnnnndddd I picked a controller.

I ordered the Hydros X4 pro pack with the XP8 power bar, ATO kit and dosing pump. Seemed like the easiest way to ATO with Kalkwasser and set up auto water changes.

The tank comes on Friday. I’ll do an unboxing thing…. Ok de decrating?…..Ummm uncrating? whatever…. I’ll take it out and show it off.

Oh man I can't wait!

So far I've ordered X4 pro pack with the XP 8 power bar, the ATO kit, an extra water level sensor a leak detector sensor and 1 dosing pump. So with the temp probe that will take up my 4 sense ports.

I went this route to do auto water changes like this:

- Dosing pump & water level sensor to run as ATO with Kalkwasser reservoir (did not want to damage a submersible pump with Kalk)
- ATO pump and water level sensor to drain sump to low water level
- Sicce pump in fresh saltwater reservoir to fill back up to operating water level.
- Leak detector to keep an eye on the entire setup.

I think that should work as a nice start.

Next step is getting an ORP probe to run my ozone generator into my skimmer.

My wave pumps and lights are going to go through the mobius app since my lights are AI or Radion (the Radion G5's went out of stock before I could pull the trigger so I'm not sure where I want to go with lighting now) and I've got MP40's and MP60's. So I don't think I need the wave engine. I don't mind using two apps as long as I can limit all of my gear to two apps.

This is gonna be fun.

Well, reporting the first disaster for this build. While unloading the stand from the crate I bent three of the little feet, or rather I bent the aluminum surrounding the inserts. So looks like it’s no feet and shims for this one or I’m going to bend them back into place and fabricate a plate to redistribute the weight of the insert. We will see still undecided on the fix for this one. Any suggestions would be awesome

The tank and stand came in and we got it in the house though with a lot of muscle and some clever engineering from my dad. No pics too busy lifting.

I also moved an electrical outlet so that I have two GFI outlets on separate circuits behind the tank.

To end it with a bang, I’ve also received my Hydro X4 pro pack. That will be fun to set up.

That’s all for now. Thanks for checking this out.

This build is slow and steady.

Levelling a tank with 14 adjustable feet is no easy task with a built in sump and no removable floor. I got it done though. I bought a little furniture lifter and some rolly plates. Had to pull the stand out and put it back in like 15 times.

Then I started putting in some gear and trying out some basic chord management. Built this little board that’s going to hide all the power bricks and extra wires. C595E284-A3BC-46B0-A907-85E448C1C4E7.jpeg A877DAF5-3219-4F56-84B2-ABB36548737C.jpeg

Then I started running my sensors for my x4, mounted my XP8 and some power bars.

The paint is drying on the board. Once that’s done I’ll finish running everything for the sump.

I’ll still have to mount my power head controllers but that’ll be it for the control board.

Next is the DIY floating canopy and mounting my lights.

Painted the chord and power brick board…. Same blue as the back wall. Had some paint left. Then I got the board in and ran most of my chords through. Added my two MP40s.

I love getting the call when my gear comes in. Here is a photo of my boy checking out his new goodies

C815728F-88D2-4039-9AC5-2919A0840B69.jpeg

Five Hydra 64s, two mp60s, sand and salt!

Also got a good start on the hanging canopy.

20BC646C-3330-43C9-90B9-B71312C76B8C.jpeg

basically just a plywood box to hide the chords and power bricks.

i did drill a few holes to run lines to the basement…. Auto water change drain and kalk top off lines.

still on the list:
1. Prime, paint and hang the canopy with lights using steel rods like dowels
2. Run the line for the fresh saltwater pump for the auto water changes.
3. Calibrate and put in my pH probe.
4. Put the tank on the stand
5. Finish programming my hydros X4 for the AWC and auto top off.
6. Fill the sucka and get fish.

The light hood is painted and up.

Used some steel bars as dowel type supports. 1/4” plywood. Pretty simple but looks good.

C96B8F9E-0EFB-4645-BB7A-ADBB8B15AD12.jpeg

Got all the hoses ran through the wall to the ATO and saltwater bin in the basement. Ran the chords for the lights through the wall. Because it’s a split level I couldn’t go below the floor joist for the second hole but at least it’s below the top of the tank and the back of the tank is black. So you want actually see the chords at all.

Stand is back in place and the fellas are coming over tomorrow to put the tank on.

Can’t wait to fill this bad boy up.

Did some programming on the hydros and set up the auto top off. It’s working and it was super easy.

I also filled up the tank and added the rock scape that was curing and cycling in the bins for months.

Nice set up man! I am thinking on getting the same rank from WB. How do you like the sump?
Do you use ATO sump ?

The sump is nice but I may consider some
changes in the future. I’m not sure if I’ll use filter socks the entire time. Otherwise it’s excellent. I don’t actually use the auto top off tank. I use it as a coral quarantine tank in another room. I have ATO and auto wanted changes set up through the wall in the basement.
