My list of top ten must haves
1. GFI's
2. wet dry vac
3. back up pump for return pump
4.R.O DI unit
5.good protien skimmer
6. at least 4watts a gallon of light or more not less
7.lots of towels( not your wifes you'll learn a hard lesson lol)
8. back up heater
9. chiller( if using halide's) but optional for some
10.A good friend that you can rely on to watch things if your away.

Great list. You can never have too many spare plumbing parts either. #1 is something I try and stress with people. I've heard so many people complain about getting zapped when they put their hand in their tank. Well, get a GFCI and save your life and some pain. They're only about $15.

Yep thats why its number one I've seen two cases here localy one the guy lost his house the other he was lucky in the fact that the tank water put fire out and just ruined his hard wood floors but still 4000.00 or more in damages if they'd had a proper working GFCI I wouldnt be mentioning them.

good freinds.. so when the power goes out at 2 AM or a rock falls & shatters your tank you got someone to help...

a good skimmer & backup pump are a must as well
